The first and only tattoo of mine. I plan on getting more, but for my first I just wanted something small and simple to start off with. It’s a Shen ring, stemming from ancient Egypt. It literally means “encircle”, but in Egyptian hieroglyphics it symbolized eternal protection. The night before I decided on this, I stayed awake all night researching ancient Egypt, as it was always a passionate subject of mine. At this time, religion was a controversial subject of mine. I’ve grown into the mindset that as long as I live my life as a just human being, I will be fine. Nobody has proof of what happens in the afterlife, but we all know that we are sent back to where we came from. Where that is, nobody knows for sure. We do go straight back into the Earth and become protected in eternity by nature, as for what else happens I believe in the reality that nobody knows - and I’m alright with the ignorance of the subject. However, the culture and beliefs that were held by Egyptians has always been an interest of mine so I felt this was something I wouldn’t end up regretting - as I will always believe that I will be eternally protected by something greater than myself.
